Ring Tips for Men

While mens rings often aren’t as elaborate as womens rings it doesn’t meant your man won’t appreciate you finding just the right ring for him. When looking at getting his ring the most important factor is usually his style and lifestyle. Here are a few ideas to consider when selecting his ring:

What does he wear everyday?

Does your man wear a suit everyday, a company uniform, casual clothes or something else? Consider his style of dress as that often provides a hint into the kind of ring he’d like to wear. A ring with some stones may be fine for man that doesn’t use his hands intensively at work…however for guys in the trades, whether construction, manufacturing, or other, a ring that can handle some knocks here and there would be more suitable. Likewise if your man is a sports enthusiast and not the kind of guy to take off his ring while he plays a ring material with stronger properties is a wise choice.

Simple, bold, or extravagant?

There are many options for ring styles. If your man is conservative and formal a wedding band that matches his personality is often a great choice.

Is he spontaneous and likes to try new things? In that case, a ring with a different pattern – like woven, or a two-tone band can be subtle yet stylish.

If your man is into technology and always having the latest gizmo he’d likely be very happy with a ring made of the latest materials like Titanium or Tungsten.

Know his size

The easiest way to be sure about his ring finger size is to ask him or use our ring size chart. However, if you’re making it a surprise there are a couple of options. You can either ask a friend of his if they have similar sized hands for ideas…or if he has another ring you can sneak it away and take its measurements. If you’re not able to get his size and want to surprise him speak with a jeweller, provide them with as much information as you can and be sure to get a slightly larger size so that you can have the ring sized for him at a local jeweller later on. It’s usually easy to do and the costs are minimal.

Budget

There is no rule on the amount you have to spend. Keep in mind that most rings are given as a lifelong gift so think of it as an investment. Don't spend more than you are comfortable with, but don't skimp either.
